Questions
What is a golden visa?+
A golden visa is a residence permit granted in exchange for a qualifying investment, such as a fund subscription, real estate, or a government contribution. It typically gives the holder the right to live in the country and travel within its bloc, and in some cases a path to citizenship.
Which golden visa is cheapest in 2026?+
Among open European programs, Latvia has one of the lowest published entry points, from around €50,000 through its business route. The cheapest option overall depends on entry charges, continuing obligations, liquidity and downside, not the headline minimum. Our calculator publishes reviewed entry-cash models and does not assume invested capital returns at par.
Which golden visa is fastest?+
Processing varies widely. Italy and Greece are among the quicker European routes, often measured in weeks to a few months, while Portugal has been slower due to processing backlogs.
Do golden visas lead to citizenship?+
Some do and some do not. Portugal, Greece, Italy and others offer a path to citizenship after a number of years of residence, while programs like the UAE provide long-term residence without a standard citizenship route.
